Health and Fitness Update: Know your supplements


Did You Know: St. John's Wort, a common herb used for depression, can interact with prescription antidepressant to cause a deadly condition known as 'Serotonin Syndrome'? Did you know Ginseng, Garlic and Gingko Biloba thin your blood and when mixed with prescription blood thinners, like Warfarin or Coumadin, can cause excessive bleeding? Kava Kava is an herb that works well to induce relaxation, but may cause liver damage.

Whether you use supplements for health, fitness or anything in between below are some good websites to reference for excellent information regarding the effectiveness, interactions, toxicities and more.

Good post! I have heard that Milk Thistle also helps cure a hangover. That's found in Rockstar energy drinks!
