TwoDaLoo - Stolen from SNL

Back in the day when I was a big SNL fan I remember seeing a short commercial for the "Love Toilet". This toilet let you use the restroom with your significant other at the same time. Then yesterday I was surfing the web and saw the exact same product on Gizmodo....Thiefs!

Bacon Wrapped Turkey

I can't believe I missed this before the turkey holiday season....I must be getting slow! I have actually thought about doing this before but did not know if it was really possible....guess it is! So if you cook turkey for Christmas then you can use this recipe, otherwise you will probably be waiting until next Thanksgiving.

Someone should wrap a chicken or Cornish gaming hen....

One Year Anniversary

One year ago today I was sitting around bored on my computer and decided to create this blog. It first started out as just an experiment (Post #1) to see if I really wanted to do it or not and then it slowly turned into a fun and exciting hobby. The blog has gone through many ups and downs, make-overs, a number of posters and right at 715 posts. So to commemorate the one year anniversary I have decided to compile a list of my Top Ten Favorite Posts of Teh Siblog

10 - Sleeper House - The only reason this post made it into the list is because I spent a good 2-3 days researching this house.

9 My Very Own Bacon Concoction: Beer-Boiled and Bacon-Wrapped Cheese Brat - One of my bacon inspired inventions but this one was really just my version of the tasty treat made by those crazy people at Maxim.

8 Sea Salt Grinder + Bac'n Buds = Siblog Bacon Salt Grinder - Inspired by the guys that made the Bacon Salt.

7 Top Ten Firefox Extensions - Just because I love the Firfox browser and project. I can't wait until Firefox 3.

6 Baconator Review: I Fought the Baconator, but the Baconator Won - This was the most painful post and therefore needed to be in the top ten.

5 Up and Running on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn - I love the Open Source community on the web and this project is very special to me. Lately I have found great interest in helping spread the word about this amazing Linux OS and that is why it ranks so high up in my list.

4 Chuck Norris!!! - These lists that were composed by Walter were absolutely hilarious and have drawn in the most amount of people to Teh Siblog.

3 Return of the Bacon Costume - I love this post because it was one of the more extensive and certainly the most fun of the Bacon projects that I have done.

2 Eveybody, Meet My Google Twin - How often do you find someone across the planet with the exact same name as you!? This post was great because I got to harass my Google Twin as well as make my first Wikipedia entry for "Google Twin".

1 Best Bacon Ever! - There are a number of reasons why this post is by far my favorite. 1) It appeared on Digg's front page and made its way up to #1. 2) It started up my posts on bacon. 3) It jumped Teh Siblog's page views to another level and increase the traffic dramatically and....4) It really kick started my love for the blogging hobby!

Even though you don't see any Zombie, Halo or other posts on this list I think it sums up what this blog is all about. I am sure you can also see that all but one of these posts are mine and that is just because my view point is jaded. I love all the work from everyone especially Walter that has made this site what it is.

....And a especially want to thank all the readers out there, which at this point may be around one or two ;-)

Thanks for a great first year!

Return of the Bacon Costume

Many moons ago I posted an amazing Bacon Costume that was made by the Junkyard Clubhouse. The post included the instructions of how to make this bacon costume yourself. So when it came time for Halloween this year you will never guess what I made. Though mine did not come out nearly as nice, I was very proud of it! One alteration that I did make to the costume was a restroom flap for easy access. Check it!

Notice: Laffy Taffy Jokes Suck

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I usually try not to whine too much but I every once in a while I gotta, so....

I am sure you all have been noticing this over the years.....What in the hell has happened to Laffy Taffy! Don't get me wrong the candy itself is still the teeth rotting sugar putty it have always been, but what has happened to the jokes!? I remember buying this candy solely for the corny jokes that made me laugh. The jokes were classic, they made sense, they were funny and they helped sell the product. Now I read the jokes and I wonder if I have gone stupid because I don't understand them! Now they don't make sense, they are not funny, they make me angry and they just plain suck. And I know these jokes are now sent in by sweet innocent little kids buuuuuuut.....they need to be fired, along with the marketing staff of Wonka candy. I know I am not the only one who has noticed this because I have people tell me all the time that the jokes suck. This has been going on for years and getting exponentially worse! Let me give you an example brought to us by little Shannon K of Conshohocken, PA -

What do you call a bird with glasses?

A Bird Watcher.

Get it? Nope, sure don't. I read this joke and the only thing I can think of is the sound Scooby makes when he is confused! And I am sure Shannon K is a great little girl (or boy) and is really smart, but she ain't a good joke maker! Wake up Wonka! Your jokes suck! Bring back the best part of Laffy Taffy! You are losing your rep!

Thank you Firefox

Found this post out on Digg and thought it was pretty funny. Check out the bigger version here

Compiz Fusion on Gutsy Gibbon

One of the coolest improvements in the new Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) is the eye candy brought to us by the Compiz Fusion application. Not much of it is very useful in a functional way but it sure is cool! The install has zero configuration and playing around with it is nothing but fun. Here is a how-to and helpful setup for some of the cooler affects thanks to Ubuntu-tutorials

Install Compiz Config Settings Manager

To customize your configuration you’ll want to install the compiz config settings manager tool. You can use your favorite package manager front-end or the command line to install:

sudo aptitude install compizconfig-settings-manager

This will add an entry to your System > Preferences menu listed as “Advanced Desktop Effects Settings”.

Make sure that you have “extra effects” turned on by navigating to System > Preferences > Appearance, selecting the Visual Effects tab, and selecting Custom at the bottom. Clicking the Preferences button will also launch the Compiz Config Settings Manager.

Configuration / Shortcuts

The settings that I like include:

- rotate cube
- desktop cube
- cube caps
- expo (must have!)
- wobbly windows
- water effect
- group and tab windows
- shift switcher

Once you have these selected you’ll be interested in the keyboard shortcuts to use them listed below:

- rotate cube : ctrl-alt-arrow or ctrl-alt-left-click and drag
- expo : super (windows button)-e
- water effects : shift-f9 (toggle)
- group and tab : select window with super-s, group with super-t, ungroup with super-u
- shift switcher : super-tab

Cube affect

Once you successfully have the 3D effects enabled and have compizconfig-settings-manager installed navigate your way to “System > Preferences > Advanced Desktop Effects Settings”. Click on “General Options” at the top of the list and select the “Desktop Size” tab. The first slider on that tab is for “Horizontal Virtual Size”. Change this from two to four and close the window. You should now have four desktop panes for use with a cube vs the two desktop panes as default.

Check out a video of this cool desktop effects application in action

Now that I recently received a laptop from work to run all my Windows-specific work-related third-party tools on, *breath* I am officially saying goodbye to Windows on all of my personally owned computers! Good riddance Windows, hello Ubuntu! Hopefully I won't be eating those words!

Bacon Lunch Box

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Bacon may be one of the best foods of all time, but do you really want to carry your lunch in a box that looks like a side of pork? If your answer is yes, the Bacon Dome Lunch Box is your ticket to happiness. No guarantee of your lunch being as tasty as bacon, but you can be sure there is a nice greasy box for you to recall BLT’s of yore. Definitely not vegan approved.
