Bacon Cheeseburger Diet

If you’ve tried Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Atkins or the South Beach Diet and found that you weren’t shedding the pounds, now there’s great news.

According to a new University of Michigan study, researchers have found that when three bacon cheeseburgers were consumed first thing in the morning, participants on average lost a total of 15 pounds a month.

“To my knowledge, this is the first prospective study to make the correlation between bacon cheeseburgers and the incidence of weight loss.” said author Ronald King, M.D. research gastroenterologist with the University of Michigan’s Weight Loss Center.

The researchers examined 880 men and 1,241 women in the rural midwest and over the course of a month fed them bacon cheeseburgers from Burger King, McDonalds, and Fuddruckers.

It’s believed that when high quantities of protein are consumed early in the morning it raises the level of leptin, the neurological hormone associated with blocking common symptoms associated with hunger.

While these are just preliminary studies, the researchers hope to eventually publish a book titled, “Eat Anything You Want.”

This article is completely inaccurate. I work at the U-M Health System, and we are not conducting such a study. We have begun receiving inquiries from reporters who think the story is accurate, and who want to report on it.
