Dell's Mini Laptop

I am way excited for this computer as I have been waiting for months for Dell to respond to the recent mini laptop market explosion. I have always been a big fan of Dell because of their Ideastorm and the ability to have Ubuntu pre-installed on a few of their machines. So once I heard that they were going to come out with a mini laptop I decided I had to see it before buying another model. I really like the new Asus 900/901, but I hope Dell will steal my vote.
Photobucket

Photobucket

So now we have seen it but I want questions answered!

1) Size? Are we talking 7 inch, 9 inch or what?
2) Do we have the new Atom processor from Intel?
3) Will we have the option of flash memory? If so how big?
4) Will we be able to have Ubuntu pre-installed on it?
5) last but not least, price? $400, $500, $600, or more?

Beardwear

I don't know if you wear this if you can't grow a beard or if you wear it to protect your beard. I personally think the later since the beard should keep your face warm. Nonetheless, the product is frick'n sweet!

Return of the Nose Masks

And you thought you had seen it all!
Photobucket

Truly nutty ideas never die. Twenty years ago, Rick Meyerowitz, renowed Schnozzologist, created two wacky books of nasal disguises (Nose Masks I and II), that America (including us Spoon Sisters) seemed to inhale. Like the Beetle and Bell Bottoms, the nose mask is back! So get ready to spruce up your honker with over 150 wacky new designs guaranteed to put a smile under the sniffers of a whole new generation. Printed in four-color and perforated, there is the Nefertootsie, the Lava (as in the lamp), and the Guggy (as in the Guggenheim Museum) and even Buddha. Covering every area imaginable, there are cat, dog and bug nose masks, holiday nose masks, underwater nose masks, career noses masks, modern art nose masks. There are little square nose masks and big vertical nose masks. Mustache nose masks, nose ring nose masks, and the Big Tongue page. Comes with instructions for any-size nose on any-age face. The fit is snug, and the look hilarous. For Birthdays, offices, dinner parties, and of course for Halloween. You are supposed to tear up this book, so if for some reason you want to keep it in tact...buy two!

Ditch the calculator watch, this is the true watch of a computer nerd. The first row of lights is for the hours and the second row is for minutes. If you look at the picture above you should be able to figure out just how it works. Unfortunately this watch costs around 200 bones so I think I will be passing it up

Why You Should Not Throw Paper Clips

Freebord

Oh how I want one....
Photobucket

Having spent many years cruising streets and bombing hills on my longboard I always find great interest in new innovations to the sport. This new Freebord ($210-$340) sports wide trucks for faster speeds, foot clips for added control and ability to jump and most importantly the inner wheels that allow you to turn and spin freely (hence the name). The board was designed by a skateboarder/snowboarder to act like a snowboard on the pavement. I recommend watching the video below, it's sick!

BBQ Sword

Let your inner swashbuckler free with this new BBQ Sword set!

I could only imagine what my neighbors would think when I cam out to cook my steaks with a long swashbuckling pronged fork and a mask hiding my identity. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they called the cops. This BBQ Sword set comes with the swashbuckling sword/fork and the identity hiding mask for $29.95.....

Fraggle Rock Movie

Photobucket

For some kids it was Sesame Street, for others it was the Smurfs, for my best friend Jon it was Nightmare on Elm Street (which explains… a lot), but for me I grew up watching Fraggle Rock. I’ve always believed that the Jim Henson created 1983 television show was vastly underrated. Meanwhile the characters have earned cred in the hipster crowd in recent years. We’re coming up on the 25th anniversary of the series and The Weinstein Co have announced that they will be producing a live-action musical feature film.

The bad news is that Cory Edwards, the guy who directed the animated Hoodwinked! (which as you can tell, I wasn’t too fond of) has been hired to helm and write the project. The story will supposedly involve the Fraggles leaving their home to interact with the Aliens (humans) in “Outer Space”. Past rumors have involved a storyline where they go in search for Uncle “Traveling” Matt. While this seems like the logical direction to go in for a big screen adaptation, I think it’s a bad idea. The great thing about Fraggle Rock was, well, Fraggle Rock itself. You take the Fraggles out of Fraggle rock and all you have is a bunch of muppets running around in the real world. And we already saw how that worked out in the last few Muppet films.

The television show ran for 96 episodes over five seasons and focused on a group of creatures called the Fraggles, who live in a system of caves called Fraggle Rock. he series focused on one tight-knit group of Fraggles in particular; Gobo, Mokey, Red, Wembley, and Boober. The “Theme song from Fraggle Rock” was actually a top 40 pop hit in Britain.

According to wikipedia, the vision of Fraggle Rock articulated by Jim Henson was to depict a colorful and fun world. Also a world with a relatively complex system of symbiotic relationships between different “races” of creatures, an allegory to the human world, where each group was somewhat unaware of how interconnected and important they were to one another. Creating this allegorical world allowed the program to entertain and amuse while seriously exploring complex issues of prejudice, spirituality, personal identity, environment, and social conflict.[1] Fraggle Rock generally refused to over-simplify any individual issue, instead simply illustrating the consequences and inherent difficulties of different actions and relationships.

So I decided to create an image out of some of the stuff we post about here....
Photobucket

Wow! When I started this in late November of 2006 I never thought that the blog would reach 1,000 posts! What started out as an experiment quickly turned into a great hobby and pastime that can hopefully continue for sometime.

In honor of the 1,000 post I thought we would go through some of my favorite and most popular areas of the blog starting with the first post....Post #1 was obviously my first post on November 27th 2006. It was short and simple and here it is....
Being in the technical industry I have always tried to act like I am on top of what is going on in the world of computers and technology. So with that being said, this is my attempt with the web log. I honestly don't know what the blog I am doing (bad joke), but I think I might be able to figure it out. Anyways....I hope you enjoy!

The next post is really the blog's claim to fame.....Best Bacon Ever! was post to the Consumerist and made it to the #1 spot on the Digg homepage and still holds the #1 spot for most diggs by a bacon post. This post is responsible for really getting this blog out to others outside of myself and friends.

The Chuck Norris Label has brought more traffic to the site than any other label. The label includes the Chuck Norris videos, pants, and most importantly the jokes! Thanks to Walter for this label as most of it was from him!

The last post I would like to recognize is the Ubuntu (GNOME) Cheat Sheet / Keyboard Shortcut post. Lately this post has actually been bringing in more traffic than any other post and sits in the #2 spot with 5,000+ pageviews.

Thanks to all the posters on this blog especially Walter! And most importantly thanks to all the readers and visitors!

Treadmill Bike, Morons Only!

This is probably the coolest thing I've seen since the original Karate Kid. Only 2500$ to look like an absolutely dumb ass. The worst thing about is you can only make it to a top speed of 2.5 mph. So you can hear all the ridiculous things people are saying about you as you glide by. But I guess if you had an IQ adequate to purchase this heap then you probably won't understand any of the jokes anyway.

Bottle openers are on everything now....Sandals, finger nail clippers, flash drives and now hats! Funny Warning on Ubuntu

While I was surfin' the web the other day, I was loading up a page when all of a sudden my Firefox minimized and hid behind this message to me. The message was to download this XP online scanner so that it could get rid of any and all malware that was on my computer. It made me chuckle because I don't have XP and I am not even worried about malware. Thanks Ubuntu!

DIY: Revive your NES

After showing you that FC Mobile yesterday I thought about my poor old NES and wondered if there was a common problem with them that could be fixed easily. So I Googled around and stumbled upon this video that shows you how to replace your 72 pin connector. This connector is what is responsible for the blocky images and unplayable games. You can find the piece on eBay and have your NES working like new in no time!

Bacon Lip Balm

Photobucket

I don't believe in lip balm but if I did I would use this stuff. I think lip balm makes your lips dependent on it, so that is why I just use straight bacon grease. I save all the cooking grease from my bacon in a jar and use it for many things like hair gel/grease, deodorant, suntan lotion, lip medication, etc. Since changing to this new form of oral hygiene my number of friends as grown exponentially! I have been getting great comments and remarks like "You smell so good I could eat you!" and "Is that the smell of you suntanning or is that bacon cooking!?" Thanks bacon!

Portable NES Gaming System!

Take your NES games on the road with the FC Mobile Console. Featuring a 2.4" LCD screen and stereo speakers, you can recreate your NES experience right in the palm of your hand with the FC Mobile Console. Want to show off your gaming skills to your friends while you play? The FC Mobile Console supports a TV output connector so that you can make or break your NES experience right on your TV screen.

This is great because my old NES is so wore out and old that I can only get one game to play on it and that is after I pull out every NES trick in the book including blowing in the cartridge and console. Another reason that this is sweet is because I can plug this bad boy into my TV so it pretty much replaces the need for an NES. Also all my controllers are all jacked up from mashing the buttons and throwing them at my brother.

Bacon Ornament

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, you would be much better with bacon!
Photobucket

Dress up your Christmas tree next holiday season with this ceramic bacon ornament. I would also suggest getting the bacon air freshener to add to your tree so that it also smells like your favorite meat candy! But be careful because that big moosey Santa may confuse it for the real thing.

Yo, Check the Perm!

Photobucket

The perm, once stigmatized as a boring hairdo for aunts and drugstore cashiers is reborn as 'the most dangerous haircut ever conceived'. Ten people in the slumps get perms to re-ignite their lives and revive their ailing human spirit. Shown in glorious full color, these hairdos will astonish and inspire.

Dang sounds like a motivational book! I had a perm once and I must say that it also re-ignited my life....maybe I should try it again, or not.
